Amherst Congregational United Church of Christ is a warm, open-minded, accepting congregation. Know that you will be welcomed among us no matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey. We aim to provide welcoming hearts and helping hands to all who are in need. We are friendly, loving, and community-minded. We share each others’ joys and struggles, supporting and loving members of our own church family, our community, our nation and the world around us.
We believe that God loves us as we are, and that forgiveness is always available. We know that God provides abundantly for us, and that we are called to share generously with others, to show our faith by how we love others. We believe that God is still speaking. We work to constantly grow in our faith, realizing that doubts and questions keep our faith alive. We value our faith traditions, but are also always open to new insights and opportunities to grow in our faith. We are open to deeply explore everything that life and the Bible can teach us about living life as a follower of Jesus.
We believe that Jesus showed us God’s love in action in human form. Our worship helps us to interpret and understand God’s guidance for our lives. We seek to model our faith for our youth, so that they can develop a strong faith relationship with God. We seek to constantly enlarge our understanding and support for all others and to increase our outreach to our neighbors in our community and in the world. We celebrate all of us being God's children.
If this sounds your kind of spiritual home, please contact us by phone at (440) 988-9148 for more information, or join us for worship on Sundays at 10am. Children are welcome to attend the worship service or they are welcome to attend our Sunday School program which begins following the Children's Chat (about 10 minutes into the worship service). Childcare is offered for pre-school aged children in our nursery, located just behind the sanctuary.
We the members of the Amherst Congregational United Church of Christ commit to the strengthening and support of individuals and families, the community and the world, through our living concern for all people.
We commit and pledge ourselves to be friendly, open and diversified in working with our local and wider communities for personal spiritual growth. We will be alert to opportunities to include all ages in growing in Christian faith, understanding, and acceptance.
- By offering worship that inspires and challenges us to become better disciples of Christ.
- By supporting individuals and families through the larger family of our Church.
- By striving to draw others into fellowship with us.
- By supporting the local and wider mission through personal service, and monetary and spiritual support.
- By providing Christian education and programs for all ages, with special emphasis on youth.
- By honoring the differences in all peoples that make/allow us to grow and learn in Christ.
We pledge ourselves to be like a large circle which is always striving to increase its boundaries to include everyone wanting to walk with Christ. This circle is always to be open so that no one is outside looking in.
